Sustainable building design and construction have become the norm in masonry as the original sustainable building product. Both public and private developers are requiring sustainable and LEED-certified buildings regularly. Having recognized this new paradigm in building design and construction, Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers has incorporated extensive LEED-certified construction and sustainable building design and construction process into its curriculum. The result is a union workforce that understands the benefits and unique requirements of ‘green’ construction.

Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Sustainability Training includes:

• Education on the LEED building design, construction, and certification processes

• Training with new ‘green’ building products and systems

• Knowledge of various sustainable methods for materials use and recycling

Utilizing the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers workforce and union contractors trained in sustainable construction will benefit developers, general contractors, and architects alike. Understanding the requirements of sustainable and LEED-certified construction allows BAC Signatory Contractors to complete ‘green’ building projects most efficiently and cost-effectively.
